St Philip and St James’ church is approximately 3 miles from Oswestry and is situated in the small hamlet of Morton, close to the Montgomery canal. The community is widespread in a predominately agricultural area. The fields surrounding this Victorian church offer a peaceful reflective place for visitors. The War Memorial is within the closed churchyard and is a place of tranquillity.
Whilst we are without a Rector, our service pattern will be different from the usual monthly pattern. Details for the next few weeks are below.

The normal monthly pattern, when we have our own Rector, is:
1st Sunday Choral Morning Prayer
2nd Sunday Holy Communion
3rd Sunday Family & Friends
4th Sunday Holy Communion.
5th Sunday Benefice Service. The 4 churches in turn host the service.
Our services include a wide participation from Worship Leaders and members of our church as well as visiting Lay Readers. Refreshments are served on occasions as required.
There is access to the church through the main front door with provision for wheelchair access.
There is a cloakroom in the churchyard with wheelchair access.
Within the church there is a good sound system and hearing loop.
Parking is on the side of the lane outside the church with additional parking available when required.
There is no hall in the village of Morton and the church is very active in hosting events and groups. We look forwards to when people can attend functions again. Regular activities include the Coffee and Cake Club on a Tuesday at 11.30am. Morton choir meets on a Friday afternoon. Lent lunches and Agape feature in Spring and Harvest evensong is accompanied by supper. Other activities tend to take place on the nearby sports field, which is a community facility.

There are also 3 noticeboards: 1 outside the church; 1 inside the church and 1 in the church porch, all of which provide useful information.
